The Supreme Court directed the Central Public Works Department to ensure that no further renovation be carried out on the apex court, in view of the Supreme Court Bar Association is going ahead with the renovation, clearly violating the directive of the Chief Justice of India.
An FIR was registered by the CPWD against members of the Supreme Court Bar Association at the Tilak Marg police station. "The complaint said that the structure was of historical importance and hence no changes should be carried out as it would destroy the beauty of the place and the same was sent to Chief Justice of India for information and necessary directive. It named several officiaals of SCBA for destroying the place. The matter needs the urgent attention of the Chief Justice as the SCBA plans to go ahead with its plans in next few days,"advocate Anand Sharma who filed the complaint against SCBA told rediff.com in an exclusive conversation.
SCBA's assistant secretary Anita Pandey in a written reply said that renovation is being carried out to ensure that more advocates could be accmodated. She claimed that the work was being done with the competant administrative authority. The investigating officer should have got in touch with relevant registrar who would have appraised the investigator, who without checking facts asked the SCBA officials to join the investigation.
