Gujarat Governor designate D N Dwivedi, who was admitted to a hospital in New Delhi due to liver problems, died early on Saturday morning. He was 74.
Dwivedi, who was suffering from liver problems, was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the gastroenterology department in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on July 23, hospital sources said. He was scheduled to undergo a liver transplant, but died at 4 am today, they said.
Dwivedi was appointed as the successor of Nawal Kishore Sharma, whose five-year-term got over on July 24 this month. However, he could not take charge immediately due to health problems and Maharashtra Governor S C Jamir was given additional charge of the state.
