Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapksa on Monday said his government has not announced a ceasefire in the operations in the northern parts of the island.
'We have not announced a ceasefire. We have only said that aerial bombardment and shelling will not be carried out,' he told CNN-IBN, the channel said in a release.
The President said "now it is almost over (for LTTE). 'Either they have to surrender or there is no option for them.'
"This is only a 6 sq km. So we will be cleaning up and till the last hostage is taken out from the LTTE hold, we will continue. We are not worried about Prabhakaran (LTTE chief) or any other person," he said.
Asked if Sri Lanka would extradite Prabhakaran to India, Rajapaksa said first he has to undergo trial in Sri Lanka for the "sins" he has committed.
