The ruling Bahujan Samaj Party, which has already crossed swords with the Congress, is all set to launch its campaign for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections from the bastion of Gandhi family -- Amethi and Rae Bareli -- on February 9.

The party, while announcing its plan to organise Brahmin Sammelans across the state, has decided to organise its first convention in Amethi, parliamentary constituency of All India Congress Committee general secretary Rahul Gandhi.

The announcement was made by Chief Minister Mayawati on Sunday during a state-level Bhaichara Banao Sammelan in Lucknow. A joint convention of three constituencies - Amethi, Rae Bareli and Sultanpur - would be held in Amethi on February 9.

Similar conventions would be organised in all parliamentary constituencies till February 28. The last one would be organised in Varanasi, in which workers from Chandauli parliamentary constituency would also participate.

She said the party would contest the Lok Sabha polls on the lines of the assembly elections in 2007, in which the BSP got a clear mandate.

"If the party was able to strengthen its social engineering, there would be no looking back for the BSP and it will certainly form the government at the Centre." She assured the Brahmins of equal and suitable participation in the elections.
