A 12-member ministry of Democratic Alliance of Nagaland led by chief minister Neiphu Rio took oath of office and secrecy at the Raj Bhawan at Kohima on Wednesday.

Nagaland Governor K Sankaranarayanan administered the oath of office to the 12 Cabinet ministers and 13 parliamentary secretaries in the wake of the Union Cabinet decision taken on Wednesday morning to revoke President's rule in the hill state.

The Centre had imposed Central Rule in the state on January 3 last about two months before the March 5 assembly election. The DAN ministry has nine members from the Nagaland People's Front, including the chief minister Rio, one member each from the Bharatiya Janata Party and Nationalist Congress Party and an Independent.

The DAN, a pre-poll alliance of the NPF, BJP and the NCP earlier staked claim to form the government in the state after winning 30 seats in the 60-member Nagaland House.  The NPF won 26 seats, the BJP and the NCP won two seats each.

The alliance is supported by five Independent legislators. The Congress, after winning only 23 seats in the election refrained from staking claim to form government in the hill state.

It happens to be the second consecutive term for the DAN and Chief Minister Neiphu Rio, who termed the victory of the alliance in election a reply by the state's people against the Centre's 'insensitive attitude' towards the hill state.
