A television channel on Thursday received an email purportedly written by the Indian Mujahideen, which had claimed responsibility for the Ahmedabad blasts, threatening to blow up its office.

The email sent to India TV had the same ID used by Indian Mujahideen, believed to be a shadow amalgam of th ebanned Students Islamic Movement of India and the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Tayiba, to send the emails to a number of media houses minutes ahead of the serial blasts in Ahmedabad last weekend.

The mail sent from alarbi_gujarat@yahoo.com warned the television channel that its office would be blown up.

Initial investigations into the email showed that the user had created a temporary Wide Area Network (WAN) connection from a California-based domain, official sources said.

The authorities were also probing the possibility that the email address might have been spoofed.

In the meantime, the TV channel has lodged a complaint with the Uttar Pradesh police as well as with the Union home ministry seeking all possible measures to ensure the safety of its staff and property.
