There has been no breakthrough so far to end the Naga political problem in negotiations with the Centre for nearly ten years, National Socialist Council of Nagaland - Isak-Muivah chairman Isak Chishi Swu said on Friday.
Speaking at Camp Hebron, the NSCN-IM's central headquarters, Swu said New Delhi's recognition of the 'unique history and situation' of the Naga people had not been translated into reality.
Quoting from the Bible, he asserted that Nagas must safeguard their genuine rights.
Swu arrived under tight security cover in Dimapur, Nagaland's commercial hub, from Guwahati by road on Wednesday night.
Nagaland Police, India Reserve Batalion personnel and NSCN-IM cadres escorted him from Dimapur to Camp Hebron.
The special security cover was provided following reports of a threat to NSCN-IM leaders from the rival Khaplang faction.
Unlike in the past, there was no public reception for Swu at Dimapur.
The rival NSCN-K (Khaplang) ridiculed Swu's 'secret' visit to Nagaland, with its leader Kughalu Mulatonu asserting that this indicated the NSCN-IM had lost the people's support.
After the arrival of NSCN-IM general secretary Thuingaleng Muivah in New Delhi last month, the NSCN-K had issued a threat to him and warned him not to enter Nagaland.
Muivah is likely to arrive in Dimapur next week after meeting Central government leaders in New Delhi, NSCN-IM sources said.
