Reversing the trend of Bollywood stars entering politics, a senior politician from Rajasthan has made a foray into the tinsel world.

Former minister Beena Kak would be seen in the role of a good-hearted mother-in-law in the film Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya, being produced by Sohail Khan productions. The shooting of the film is almost complete.

"I am doing the role of Salman's mother in the film, a light-hearted comedy," Kak told reporters in Jaipur.

"I did not feel awkward facing the camera at all, because as a politician I am used to facing cameras," she said when asked about her experience in front of the lights.

"It was like a family gathering at the sets of the film and almost all my shots, even those with Salman, were okayed in the first takes," she said.

Both Dhawan and Salman were good friends and they tempted her to take up acting, she said.

Happy with her experience in films, Kak said she would certainly do more films if directors approached her with good scripts. "Both politics and films are a medium to connect with people. It is basically reaching out to people."

She, however, said there was no question of her leaving politics.
