The four, lodged in the Faizabad divisional jail, were brought to the court under heavy security.

They were arrested in Poonch last month and brought to Faizabad in connection with the case.

The district authorities have already stepped up security in the jail premises where these militants have been lodged.

District magistrate Markandey Singh and senior superintendent of police Avinash Chandra visited the jail and issued directives for further tightening the security arrangements.

A mock drill was carried out to test the preparedness of security personnel deployed in the acquired area on Thursday with a 'bomb-like object' placed near a watchtower, official sources said, adding PAC personnel and bomb disposal squad reached the spot late.

Additional Superintendent of Police (security) Sarvesh Kumar Singh issued notices to all those found 'lacking' in promptness, the sources added.
