As part of enhancing the Taj Mahal's security management system, closed circuit TV cameras would soon be installed to monitor the movement of visitors to the 17th century monument.

The decision was taken at a meeting between Archeological Survey of India Director General C Babu Rajeev
and Central Industrial Security Force Inspector General Radhakrishnan Kinne yesterday, local ASI officials said in Agra today.

The CISF, which is in charge of the internal security of the world famous monument, has suggested the need for a CCTV surveillance of movement inside and around the monument.

ASI officials said Babu Rajeev agreed to the suggestion and asked for a formal request to be sent to the ASI.

The ASI director general, however, did not approve of the suggestion to have armed bunkers at the eastern and
southern gates of the Taj Mahal on the ground that these would give a bad look to the approaches, the local ASI officials claimed.
