Wen holds talks with Shekhawat

Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao called on Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat on Monday.

During the 45-minute meeting, Wen said that increased cooperation and friendship between India and China will have its impact on the whole world, an official release said.

The Chinese premier, who was accompanied by a delegation, said his visit was aimed at increasing mutual understanding and strengthening friendship and wanted to initiate a 'new chapter' in the history of Indo-China relation.

Shekhawat recalled the close 'cultural and friendly' relations spanning over centuries between the two countries, the release said.

The vice-president suggested that close economic relations between the two nations have immense possibilities for development.
