K J M Varma in Islamabad

Pakistan on Friday said it will give a "positive and timely response" to India's decision to withdraw troops from the border.

"The Government of Pakistan regards the Indian government's decision for phased withdrawal of its armed forces from the Pakistan and India border as a step in the right direction. The implementation on the ground of the Indian government's decision will receive positive and timely response from Pakistan," a foreign office statement said.
