Pak missiles based on
stolen technology: India

Shahid K Abbas in New Delhi

India on Friday said that the test firing of Pakistan's medium range surface-to-surface missile Shaheen was based on "clandestinely imported material, equipment and technology".

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Nirupama Rao said the test was conducted keeping in mind the October 10 general election in Pakistan.

The missile, believed to be capable of carrying nuclear warheads, has a range of 700 km.

She asserted that New Delhi was "not particularly impressed with these missile antics of Pakistan".

PTI adds:
Britain on Friday expressed concern over the latest missile test by Pakistan.

"I regret Pakistan's decision to test a ballistic missile, particularly in the light of the continuing heightened tension in the region," British Foreign Office Minister Mike O'Brien said.

O'Brien said Britain continued to believe that "restraint in developing nuclear weapons and possible delivery systems is in the long term interest of Pakistan and the region".
