Musharraf revives constitution,
to be sworn in as president

Gen Pervez Musharraf on Friday revived the constitution and is to be sworn in as president under the same on Saturday, state-run Pakistan Television reported on Friday night.

The constitution had been suspended when Musharraf took over from then prime minister Nawaz Sharif in a bloodless coup in 1999.

However, some articles pertaining to the provincial governments will continue to remain suspended.

Musharraf had been holding the office of president and enforcing his authority on the basis of a Legal Framework Order enacted to legimise his rule.
