Three Pakistani fishing boats captured

The Coast Guard apprehended three Pakistani fishing boats near the Indian exclusive economic zone on Monday.

The boats were collectively carrying a crew of 41 members.

Spotted by the Coast Guard ship Sangram under the command of Deputy Inspector General of Police Rajendra Singh, the boats were caught near the international maritime boundary line during a routine patrol.

The members were fishing about 30km inside the EEZ, violating the Maritime Zones of India Act.

They will now be handed over to the local police for legal action.

Following this development, the Coast Guard has increased patrolling near the maritime boundary. Earlier, two Pakistani boats with 29 crew were apprehended by the Coast Guard on November 7.
