The 171 Battalion of the BSF busted the communication centre in the forest area of Kraligam following the arrest of a Hizb member, Bashir Ahmad Wani, on Saturday, a BSF spokesman said.
Wani, a resident of Kanikote village of Chrar-e-Sharief, was arrested by the BSF on information received from the village. His interrogation led to the busting of two major hideouts of the Hizb, including the communication centre.
The equipment recovered from the centre was two high-frequency US-made PRC-1099 radio sets (wireless sets), one booster, two signal receivers, two keyboards, a printer, a digital multimeter, a key telegraph, five-plate folded solar panel and main leads for the booster.
The second hideout found at the instance of the captured terrorist was located in Liden forest. A search there led to the recovery of a pair of binoculars, 17 detonators, 75 metres of Cordex wire, 280 rounds of Kalashnikov ammunition and a large quantity of incriminating documents and propaganda material, the spokesman said.
