Inamul Haq appointed Pakistan's deputy foreign minister

Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf on Wednesday appointed Foreign Secretary Inamul Haq as minister of state for foreign affairs.

A formal announcement in this regard would be made soon, Information Minister Nisar Memon said in Islamabad.

Haq, who formed the core of Musharraf's think tank on foreign policy, was scheduled to retire from the foreign service in a few months.
