Musharraf says infiltration stopped;
India rejects claim

Claiming that infiltration of Pakistan-based militants into Jammu and Kashmir has stopped, President Pervez Musharraf on Sunday asked India to stop making 'baseless' allegations and start talks to resolve all issues, including Kashmir.

"It (infiltration) has certainly stopped in the past. It is not taking place and whatever the Indian side is saying is absolutely baseless," Musharraf told reporters in Islamabad while receiving US Secretary of State Colin Powell.

India, however, rejected as 'terminological inexactitude' Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf's claim, saying there has been a 'spurt' in infiltration in the last few weeks.

"We have conveyed this to Powell. Apart from the US, our friends in the international community also recognise the fact that infiltration has not ended," an external affairs ministry spokesperson said.

Meanwhile in Pakistan, on further steps his government would take on Kashmir, Musharraf said, "I don't have to do anything because we have already done it (whatever we could)."

Powell, who arrived in Pakistan after talks with Indian leaders, told reporters before going into talks with Musharraf that "we will discuss a number of issues, including the Line of Control and the regional situation, and I would like to hear from the president about the camps (training camps housing the militants)."

On his arrival, Powell held talks with Pakistan Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Inamul Haq.
