Pakistani national elections
on October 10

Pakistan's military government will hold parliamentary elections on October 10, state television reported on Wednesday.

It said the elections for the national assembly (lower house), the senate (upper house) and the four provincial assemblies would be held on the same day.

The announcement came after a cabinet meeting chaired by President General Pervez Musharraf.

Musharraf took power in a bloodless military coup in October 1999, sending prime minister Nawaz Sharif into exile and dissolving parliament
