On the night of July 14, the two soldiers entered the house of Abdul Ahad Bhat, reportedly in the guise of militants coming from Jammu after carrying out an attack on labourers there.
After some time, they started misbehaving with the women in the house, forcing the inmates to retaliate, injuring Bhat and his two sons, Abdul Hamid and Riyaz Ahmad.
The soldiers tried to flee during the scuffle, but the neighbours who had assembled outside overpowered one of them.
After the incident, Major Rameet Kumar of the Rashtriya Rifles came to the village and assured the villagers of stern action against the accused, while taking away one of the soldiers.
In the morning, residents of the village blocked the traffic on the Srinagar-Baramulla highway and protested against the incident.
Senior district civil and police officials along with army officers rushed to the spot and assured the agitating villagers of stern action against the culprits.
