Twelve killed in bomb blast in Pakistan

At least 12 persons were killed and 30 injured in bomb blast at a meeting of Shiite Muslims in Pakistan, officials in Islamabad said on Friday.

The incident occurred around midnight in Bhakkar town in central Punjab province, they said.

Most of the dead were women as the bomb fell in an area segregated for women and children, they added.

The incident has led to tension in the area and security has been tightened to prevent any untoward incidents, sources said.
