Two soldiers of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were killed in Srinagar late on Monday evening when an altercation between some soldiers took an ugly turn with one of them opening fire on his comrades, police said on Tuesday.
The slain soldiers have been identified as constable Om Prakash and B N Reddy, police said, adding the man who shot them had been identified as Purshottam, a driver with the CRPF.
Purshottam, who was also injured in retaliatory firing by his comrades, has been admitted to a hospital in Srinagar.
Police said the soldiers belonged to the 122 battalion of the CRPF and were posted inside the indoor sports stadium.
Last week, terrorists had fired 15 rifle grenades at this CRPF camp, but no one was injured and only a vehicle parked inside the camp was damaged.
