Four LeT militants, two jawans killed

Four Pak-based Lashkar-e-Tayiba militants and two security personnel were killed in a fierce encounter that lasted for 27-hours in Shovian area of Pulwama district in south Kashmir, official sources said on Friday.

The encounter started on Wednesday at Baskuchan village after army troops and special operations group (SOG) personnel of the local police raided a militant hideout, they said.

The ultras fired indiscriminately and engaged the search parties for nearly 27 hours before the militants were killed on Thursday night, sources said.

The encounter left four militants and two security personnel dead while two jawans were injured, they said.

Bodies of the slain militants along with arms and ammunition were recovered from the spot and efforts are on to establish their identity, sources said, adding the documents recovered from the deceased militants revealed their affiliation with the Pakistan-based LeT.
