If the depiction of history is one-sided,
we should change it: PM

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Saturday virtually endorsed the recent changes made in history textbooks of schools saying 'if the depiction of history is one-sided, we should change it'.

"We are ready for a debate in Parliament on this issue and if history is one-sided, it should be changed", he told reporters in an informal chat at a lunch hosted by party spokesman V K Malhotra in Delhi.

The Rajya Sabha had on Friday witnessed uproarious scenes following a charge of 'Talebanisation' of the country's education system with opposition members alleging that the removal of certain portions from some history textbooks was 'blatantly communal'.

The charge led to vociferous protests from ruling party members leading to adjournment of the House.
