Government to examine Hizb's
Kashmir proposal: Advani

The government would examine the Hizbul Mujahideen's proposal that it favoured a peaceful solution of the Kashmir issue, Home Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani told the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.

"I will examine it (Hizb's proposal)," Advani said, responding to supplementaries to a question on the terror unleashed by militant outfits in Jammu and Kashmir.

He said the government was willing to discuss and negotiate the issue with any organisation that was prepared to put down arms and come to the negotiating table. This was one of the essential components for dialogue, Advani said.

"If any such organisation, irrespective of its past, says that it is willing for negotiations, we will examine the proposal," he said.
