Musharraf vows to
raise J&K at all fora

Military ruler General Pervez Musharraf Wednesday met Hurriyat leader Shoukat Abdul Aziz and assured him of Pakistan's commitment to provide all diplomatic, moral and political support to the people of Kashmir in their "just struggle for self-determination".

According to the state-run APP news agency, Musharraf also told Aziz that Pakistan would continue to raise the Kashmir issue at all fora.

APP quoted Musharraf as saying that India should realise that a military solution to the Kashmir issue was not possible and it was in this perspective that Pakistan had been urging New Delhi to agree to a negotiated settlement of the dispute in accordance with the wishes of the Kashmiri people.

The military ruler said Kashmir is the root cause of tension in South Asia and it must be resolved if the people of the region are to lead their lives in peace and harmony.

Aziz, who is here in connection with the wedding of his brother, Tuesday night met with Pakistan President Rafiq Tarar.
