Brisk preparations at Ajmer
to receive Musharraf

Brisk preparations are underway to receive Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf who is scheduled to arrive in Ajmer on July 16 for a pilgrimage to the dargah of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti.

Rajasthan Home Secretary R K Nayar and Director General of Police Shantanu Kumar on Wednesday reviewed security arrangements in view of Musharraf's visit. The latter is expected to spend over two hours in the town.

After visiting the dargah and inspecting the entire route from helipad to the shrine, the officials asked the local administration to put barricades on both sides of the route in crowded areas.

They also visited the circuit house where the Pakistan president may halt for a brief period.

Dargah sources said Musharraf would be bringing a chaddar (shawl) from Pakistan for offering at the tomb of the Sufi saint.
