Musharraf's cousin extends Lucknow invitation

The Lucknavi connections of Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf and his wife Begum Sahba have come to light with a second-generation cousin, Sidrat Ansari, extending an invitation to them to visit Lucknow.

Sidrat Ansari is the son of eminent former parliamentarian, Hayat Ullah Ansari.

Begum Sahba had expressed her desire to visit Lucknow and "we are prepared to give them a Lucknavi welcome if they decide to visit the city," Ansari said.

According to Ansari, the General's father, Syed Musharrafuddin was a childhood friend of his father. He added that he along with his wife had attended his marriage in 1987.

The invitation has been extended through Home Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani and the Pakistan Embassy and a reply is awaited, he said.
