1100 feared dead in Gujarat quake

The deadliest earthquake in half a century left at least 1100 people dead in Gujarat, enveloping Bhuj district in the silence of the graveyard amid fallen high-rise buildings and electric poles, the ground shaking as far away as Kerala, on Friday

Ahmedabad and Kutch Districts suffered the brunt of the earthquake. Ahmedabad till Friday evening had reported 300 deaths and Kutch 250 and hundreds injured.

More than 200 fatalities were reported in Rajkot, 60 in Surendranagar,45 in Surat, 30 in Porbandar, 100 in Jamnagar, Patan 30, Bhaurch 10, Navasari 10 and the rest in other parts of Gujarat. More than 2,400 persons were injured.
