Condolence Message:While the effort in progress to help the vitims is commendable, I think its damn HIGH TIME that govts. decide and prepare a comprehensive disaster plan. Instead of being unco-ordinated and taking loans from World Bank which is to be re-paid at high interest it is better that govt. spends some amountof money building a 'rapid disaster relief' (RDR) system C'mon all ya bureaucrats, IAS officers, u would know your areas well. Pl. work it out

Name:Chanchal Chakraborty
Email:chanchi@hotmail.com
Condolence Message:I sincerely pray that those who have been devastated by this natural calamity, can get back to life. But those of us who are lucky to have escaped can do a lot. I am sorry to say this but reading all the reports from times of india, hindustan times and other news publication I ask every one to take personal initiative to see that whatever you give actually reaches. Personally after reading these, I will not give any fund to the agencies learning of their efficiency. But we here have formed a group who will collect money, and will personally send it to the pearent of one of our friend in Bombay, who will go to the area, and pick out, little orphan children, at leat 100, and either get them admitted to homes, or we will set up a trust to finance their education, and living. I think if each of us personally take a little bit of extra initiative rather than just casually write a check, we will reach far more and far better. In this time of distress all these people need a touch of healing, and that to tangible and personal. So I ask every one of you to go ahead and reach at least one family, and do your best to get them out. I personally will start with orphaned childrens. Hope there will be enough of us to bring up everyone. This way neither will we be trapped in loans, not will we hamper anybody else working. At the end of our life, at least we can say that whatever we did, we did at least one good job.

Condolence Message:An earthquake in India, thousands of people dead. I can't express my grief in words about this disaster. But we all know what is going on. we all know that the political leaders will act heartless once again and try to fill out their own pockets with the relief money. But we can do nothing about it because they have the power. Even before this disastrous and destructive earthquake occured, India is on verge of distruction. How sad is it to see poor and hungry people wandering in the streets. Lets forget the earthquake for a while. what about those homeless people living in filthy streets, eating from the trash cans. what about those children who don't have any mother or father but are born to die after suffering all the natural calamities. 50 years of independent, what is our achievement, we still millions of people who sleep every night without having a loaf of bread. We need a revolution, India need to do something to protect itself. A person stealing food was beaten to death in Gujrat. He was a poor and hungry guy so noone even bothered to read his story in the newspaper. Now lets think about Lalu Prasad Yadev, Jayalalitha, they have corrupted crores of ruppees and we all know that, why aren't they beaten to death. If corruption is removed from Indian politics a lot of problems can be solved. I agree that Gujrat earthquake is a disaster but unfortunately if the corruption, population, and unemployment problems are not solved, there will be worst disasters coming in India, the destruction of mankind

Condolence Message:It is sad that it takes calamities of such magnitude to make us realise that we too as human beings have a responsibility to the world that we live in. Now that it is a crucial time for so many people who are in a dire need of help, lets go out and help them , in whatever small way we can . It's time that we reached out to our fellow human beings and tell them that they are not alone. It's time we became responsible citizens, for nothing else but for the sake of humanity. It's moments like these when the whole world stands united, the example of which we have been seeing from the world over contributions that are being made, and so its time for all of us too to contribute something, anything, whatever we can – just contribute. Come on guys. Humanity cries out to all of us for help, and we just cant shut our ears to it. Lets all please contribute in whichever way we can. In a situation like this, even a thought would count!

Condolence Message:SHOCKED THAT RESCUE IS CALLED OFF This morning i was shocked to hear that rescue operations have been called off. People can survive for upto 8-10 days without food and water. I remember having read a story in the READERS DIGEST about a mounteneer girl who was rescued thin after about 2 weeks or 4 weeks. Cannot remember exact but it was very long time. Therefore it is my plea to the GOVT - "PLEASE CONTINUE LOOKING FOR SURVIVORS". Also if the give real toll figures, people will contribute more the the relief fund. why does the govt give a very LOW figure than actuals ?
