Jammu and Kashmir Muttahida Mahaz chief Mir Khursheed on Saturday said that Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence had threatened to kill him following his expose of its plans to disintegrate India.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Khursheed said ever since the JKMM (launched on July 10 this year) began exposing the ISI's nefarious plans, he had been receiving threats from the intelligence outfit.
"The ISI threat to me is nothing unusual. They have sent their agents to J&K to rape and murder innocent Kashmiris," Khursheed contended.
Launching a frontal assault against the All Party Hurriyat Conference, he alleged that its "traditional leadership" had been challenged by the youth in the state. The party was representing the interests of the governments in Islamabad and New Delhi, while ignoring the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, he added.
Alleging that the APHC was a front for the ISI's activities in India, he said the JKMM had called a general strike in the state in protest against the killing of innocent people in Afghanistan. But the APHC had tried to call it off, thus revealing its true nature.
He said that on being "rejected by the people of J&K, the ISI-backed APHC has started eliminating its political opponents".
Claiming that the ISI was "planning to take serious action against me", he pointed out that the JKMM would accept the challenge and continue exposing the agency.
He urged the Vajpayee government to invite former PoK prime minister Sardar Abdul Qayoom Khan for seeking a solution to the Kashmir issue.
"I fail to understand why the Government of India tolerates Pakistan's invitation to Hurriyat leaders, but has failed to invite Sardar Qayoom Khan for talks," he said.
He urged the government to come up with a three-pronged package for Kashmiri youth, including the granting of general amnesty, employment and free and fair polls in the state.
"These will be the factors that will restore the character of J&K and save us all from this bloody agony," the JKMM chief added.
