No danger to any community in India: Abdullah

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah has said there was no danger to any community in the country where people from different faiths enjoyed full liberty of expression and development.

India is the biggest secular democracy in the world and people from all religions are living together from time immemorial, Abdullah said in Kishtwar in Doda district.

The chief minister was in Kishtwar to attend the rasam-e-chaharum of A Kitchloo, the state social welfare minister who died in Delhi on August 27.

He said Jammu and Kashmir was "the crown of India" and would always remain so despite efforts by Pakistan to create dissension among different communities.

Neither Islam nor any other religion was in danger in India, he said, adding it was high time that people understood the machinations of militants and their mentors across the border and foiled their nefarious designs.
