NBA leader Medha Patkar told reporters at the site that the chief minister's response to these issues had become vital in view of the on-going meeting of the Narmada Control Authority sub-group for resettlement, in Bhopal.
She claimed that the sub-group did not possess the land required to re-settle the oustees and referred to Singh's statement that an agreement had been arrived at with the Gujarat government on various issues concerning the Sardar Sarovar Project.
"The oustees have gathered here to know directly from Singh himself the issues on which an agreement had been reached with the Gujarat government," Patkar said.
She dismissed as absurd an official claim that 10,000 families to be affected by raising the height of the dam to 100 metres would be rehabilitated by the end of this year.
The NBA leader said it was 'shameful' that problems of the oustees were being discussed in a three-star hotel and claimed that 'officials from Maharashtra, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh are busy playing games'.
