In a major breakthrough, security forces unearthed a big arms cache including RDX explosives, rockets and grenades from a militant hideout in the Roshanpora forests, north of Kashmir.
The arsenal was recovered in course of an operation launched by security forces on the basis of information provided by some locals, an army spokesman said.
The cache includes 28 kg of RDX, 13 prepackaged explosive devices, a grenade launcher with muzzle attachment, 105 rifle grenades, 20 Automatic Grenade Launcher (AGL) grenades, 18 hand grenades, one flame thrower, 18 RPG rockets, four timer pencils, a silencer for the AK-47 assault rifle, and 1200 rounds of ammunition.
In a related development, an arms smuggler was arrested by security personnel, and recovered 10 grams of heroin, 200 grams of explosives, two grenades, an anti-personnel mine and assorted ammunition in an operation in the Dardporao area of Kupwara late on Thursday evening.
