Panun Kashmir apprises EU team of Pandits' plight: PTIAs part of its campaign to apprise the world of the plight of Kashmiri Pandit migrants and the genesis of their displacement, the Panun Kashmir has met representatives of the European Union in New Delhi and presented a memorandum highlighting their aspirations, including creation of a separate homeland within the valley.A four-member delegation of Panun Kashmir apprised the EU representatives of the "Islamisation" process in Kashmir and reasons for the displacement of over 3.5 lakh members of the ethnic Pandit community in 1990 and their plight thereafter, the organisation's spokesman Ramesh Manvatti said on Thursday. "We made the EU representatives aware of the ethnic cleansing that followed the outbreak of militancy in Kashmir and the resultant forced migration of most of the ethnic minority population," Manvatti, who was a member of the delegation, told PTI. He said EU representatives were "keen to know" our view on the Kashmir imbroglio and the current situation in the valley. "They gave us a patient and positive hearing and assured full support to the cause of Kashmiri Pandits," Manvatti said. The EU representatives included Michael Caillouet, ambassador, head of EU delegation, Bernard de Monteferrand, French ambassador to India, Manuel Marcelo Curtis, Portuguese ambassador, Johan Mordenfelt, Swedish ambassador and Guy Trouveroy, Belgian ambassador.
