Shia leader laid to rest amid
shouting of anti-Pak slogans

Thousands of mourners joined the funeral procession of Shia leader Agha Syed Mehdi, who was laid to rest amid beating of chests and anti-Pakistan slogans in Badgam on Saturday.

Mehdi, his personal security officer, driver and three others were killed in a powerful mine blast at Kanihama on Friday.

Thousands of people, mostly Shia, who gathered at the main chowk early on Saturday morning, mourned the death by beating their chests and raising anti-Pak slogans.

All Parties' Kashmir Hurriyat Conference leaders, including its chairman Prof Abdul Gani Lone, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mohammad Yaseen Malik and Javed Ahmad Mir, besides Mir Lasjan, Tariq Qarrah and Ghulam Qadri Pardesi of the Peoples' Democratic Party joined the funeral procession.
