Meanwhile, Home Minister Lal Krishna Advani today said the Centre would await fresh proposals from the Jammu and Kashmir government on the autonomy issue before taking a final decision. Talking to Star News, Advani said the government would be willing to consider fresh proposals from the state government. The Centre has already rejected the resolution on autonomy passed at a special session of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly. Advani said the government was ready for devolution of powers to the states within the framework of the Constitution. ''We are ready for re-arrangement of powers between the Centre and state to serve the people better,'' he said. He said Jammu and Kashmir was faced with two main problems -- militancy and the need for rapid development. UNI See full coverage on autonomy
