Ladakh resolution illegal: J&K govt

E-Mail this report to a friend

The Jammu and Kashmir government today described as 'illegal' a resolution adopted by the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council yesterday against the autonomy motion passed by the state legislature.

An official spokesperson said a meeting of the LAHDC, convened to deliberate on the 2000-2001 annual plan, moved a resolution against autonomy after its chief executive officer left the meeting.

The resolution was not included in the agenda of the meeting, he added.

The issue on which the resolution was proposed to be moved was political, not falling within the jurisdiction of the LAHDC Act, the spokesperson said.

The resolution, moved and adopted in the absence of the chief executive officer, has no sanctity as it had not been entered in the record note of the meeting, the spokesperson added.
