Bajrang Dal demands apology from PopeThe Bajrang Dal today demanded an apology from Pope John Paul II for the Goa Inquisition and said it would welcome the pontiff's visit to India next month only if he discourages conversions in various parts of the country. Addressing a press conference in Chandigarh, Bajrang Dal convenor Surinder Jain also demanded that the Pope agree to an open discussion on the "role of churches in defaming the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Bajrang Dal". Alleging that the Church played a role in fomenting terrorist activities in the North-East, Jain said the Pope should condemn such activities. UNI |
