God for the older youthS S Kumar CHICAGO -- In between celebrating a number of festivals, Akshaya, a group dedicated to the spiritual development of people in their 20s and 30s, is offering religious discourses at the Hindu Temple of Greater Chicago at Lemont. Akshaya meets to discuss topics on Hindu religion, philosophy and culture. "This exchange is designed to deepen an individual's understanding of the religion and gain ideas on how to include spirituality in a hectic American life," says Anshu Mittal, one of the organizers. The group meets on the fourth Sunday of each month. Each meeting includes a guest lecture or group discussion on a religious matter. Members have an opportunity to ask questions of speakers and of their peers. This exchange is designed to deepen an individual's understanding of the Hindu religion and gain ideas on how to include religion in a hectic American life. The meetings also include a puja, often with temple priest sharing the meaning of the rituals and actions that are performed. Usually the Akshaya meetings are held on 4th Sunday of every month at 1130 hours at 10915 Lemont Road, Lemont IL 60439; (630) 972-0300.
