In Aid Of The Saraswati MandirsA P Kamath in New York When the Indian American Scholarship Fund was started six years ago under the direction of the India American Cultural Association, a non-profit, tax-exempt organization in Georgia, its original goal was to provide financial assistance to Indian American students in Atlanta -- and then the state of Georgia. Last year, it initiated an IASF/USA program for students studying outside Georgia. IASF/USA (www.iasf.org) is one of the many organizations across America that help Indian American students with scholarships. "It is not enough that we give away several millions of dollars each year for building the mandirs," says retired history teacher and a New Jersey Democratic Party activist Kanak Dutta. "We must also give money to Saraswati mandirs." Given below is basic information about some of the scholarships. Remember, the state of endowment changes. So make sure that you have updated information.
