E-Mail this report to a friend

The police have tightened security in and around Christian institutions and residential areas in Allahabad after four Kerala missionaries were assaulted by suspected Bajrang Dal activists at their camp.

Superintendent of Police (City) Lalji Shukla told UNI that no arrests have been made and the culprits were yet to be identified.

According to a first information report lodged with the city police on Monday four employees of 'Hope in Jesus', a Christian missionary organisation, were caught at the Minto Park area and brought to the camp of Bajrang Dal in the Magh Mela area and beaten up. The incident occurred on Friday last.

District president of the Bharatiya Alpasankhyak Morcha and secretary of the South Indian Welfare Movement, Manoj Jacob, has condemned the attack and demanded immediate arrest and action against the culprits.

A delegation of the Morcha also met the district magistrate and senior superintendent of police, who assured protection to the Christians.
