Schoolboy kidnapped in West Tripura

Tribal guerrillas abducted a schoolboy at gunpoint from Ananda Nagar in West Tripura yesterday, the police said in the capital Agartala today.

A massive search is on to trace eight teachers, kidnapped by armed militants from Takarjala areas of West Tripura district on Tuesday.

The ultras kidnapped the eight teachers after killing a ninth on the spot.

Senior police officials are supervising the anti-insurgency operation.

A rally was organised by school children, mostly tribals, in protest against the kidnapping. The rally, organised yesterday at Jampuijala, urged the state government to spare no pains to rescue those abducted.
