7 soldiers killed, 38 injured in J&K road mishap

E-Mail this report to a friend

At least seven army personnel were killed and 38 injured, most of them seriously, when their vehicle fell into a 150-feet gorge near Jawahar tunnel on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway.

The incident occurred Wednesday. The vehicle, part of an army convoy from Srinagar to Jammu, skidded off the road while negotiating a blind curve near a tunnel, official sources said.

The road was slippery as snow and rains had lashed the 300 km-long highway at various places between the capital city and Banihal.

Seven bodies have been recovered.
