Steer clear of Ayodhya, Naidu warns BJP

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has warned the Bharatiya Janata Party-led coalition government at the Centre that any deviation from the national agenda for governance on all issues including Ayodhya, would be viewed seriously.

Naidu, whose Telugu Desam Party is extending issue-based support to the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government, told the media that the BJP's allies supported the agenda.

Reiterating his party's strong opposition to the misuse of Article 356 of the Constitution, Naidu stressed the need for evolving a national consensus on the issue.

He said his party was not an ally of the BJP.

Replying to a question, he denied the charge that he was encouraging the flight of capital from Karnataka to his state, especially in the case of software units.

The Hitec City near Hyderabad would become operational by the year-end, he said and added that an unique hardware and chip manufacturing project would also be set up in the state.

Naidu said the Centre would soon release the national information technology policy document which was prepared by him as co-chairman of the National Task Force on Information Technology.
