Where you have half the year off

Haryana government employees can enjoy a holiday every alternate day in 1999.

A list of holidays declared by the Haryana government for 1999 shows that, apart from their two weekly holidays on each Saturday and Sunday (a total of 104 holidays in the whole year), state government employees can avail of 12 gazetted holidays, two restricted holidays and 19 notified holidays in the year, which gives them a total of almost 140 holidays, besides their other leave entitlements (casual leave etc.).

This means that almost every alternate day in the year 1999 will be a non-working day for the employees.

Most of the 12 gazetted holidays have been notified as public holidays within the meaning of Section 25 of the Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881.
