Over the years, Subhash Ghai has earned the reputation of being one of the most successful directors in the industry.

He took several actresses under his wing and made them stars. Witness Meenakshi Sheshadri, Madhuri Dixit, Manisha Koirala and Mahima Chaudhry. Actors like Shatrughan Sinha, Rishi Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff got a new lease of life through Ghai's films. His films, which were grand productions, boasted of chartbusting numbers.

Ghai's production company, Mukta Arts, released its first film, Karz (Rishi Kapoor, Simi Garewal, Tina Munim), in 1978. The film was a superhit. On October 24, Mukta Arts turns 25.
