The American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin has praised President Barak Obama's push for Medicare reform and increasing the number of medical residency slots.  Doctor Vinod Shah, president AAPI, said in a statement, that he was honoured to be the only Indian-American community leader to witness the Obama's State of the Union address, in the House of Representatives.

"The President was both focused and articulate, and we are very pleased that he is continuing his efforts to pass meaningful health care reform.  We believe addressing a permanent fix to the Medicare sustainable growth rate and increasing medical residency slots nationally should be at the forefront of reform efforts'" The group said in their statement.

"At the same time, the President spoke of the very tough economic times our nation is experiencing and the challenges facing American families on a daily basis. We need to put aside our political differences and do what's best for our nation.  We fully stand behind the President and his efforts to bring America back onto a path of prosperity and look forward to working with him and his team to make America strong once again," Shah said.
