She won't ever be a nun

Mamta Kulkarni Click for bigger pic!
Mamta Kulkarni playing a nun, that too Mother Teresa? As Bertie Wooster would have it, the mind boggles; it may even go clean off the trolley.

But the pin-up girl who came into the limelight after being photographed holding up two globs of fat, who accused director Rajkumar Santoshi of... ahem..., who is allegedly a permanent fixture at the seamier parties in the suburbs, who... Well, anyway, she now claims that she had been offered the role of the Mother in a Bengali film. She's boasted to at least one film journo about it.

Apparently, the film's director, perhaps not realising her vast and varied talents, abruptly changed his mind and offered the role to Debashree Roy, who allegedly jumped at the opportunity. Strangely, no one has accused him of a Bengali bias yet.

By the way, do you recollect all those statements that Mamta Kulkarni made about wanting to be Mother Teresa. You forgot? No matter, it's not on anyway.

Loo lore

Anu Agarwal Click for bigger pic!
Anu Agarwal is one very absent-minded woman, it seems. Or why else would she wander in with an hunky escort into the gent's loo of a five-star hotel?

The authorities -- a little on the starchy side they are -- pulled the duo up and gave them a stern warning. One official was particularly nasty to poor Agarwal, telling her this was her second and final warning.

He was less severe on the hunk, since it was someone else Agarwal followed into the gent's the last time.

Robinson cruises

If the former Kama Sutra girl is trying to explain her way out of gent's toilets, the former Kama Sutra guy, Marc Robinson, is busy painting his face on celluloid, now that his HMV venture has come through.

But other models like Milind Soman and Ranjeev Mulchandani have not been able to go beyond the small screen. The former's filmi plans came a cropper, and Mulchandani is wondering what to do with his career since every project he is involved in has been shelved.

Robinson has not only been honing his acting skills, we hear. There are also rumours of his links with the film's heroine. Since that kind of rumour is attached to almost every hero and heroine, we suspect the PR machinery was working overtime, making the duo fall in love to generate interest that may translate into profits.

Shrewd Shetty

Sunil Shetty Click for bigger pic!
Sunil Shetty may not be a great actor, but he has a canny business sense all right, considering how he wrenches away plum projects from other, more experienced, operators.

Sunil and Ashok Honda together worked some shrewd games to beat some heavyweights to the rights of the southern hit, Hitler.

Anil Kapoor and Boney Kapoor seemed to have clinched the deal, after beating the Sunny Deol-Dharmendra team and the Aamir Khan-Mansur Khan jodi.

And just when they seemed to have breasted the tape, Shetty rolled up the deal, offering the film-makers twice the money Boney offered.

That's one great way to win -- score brownie points, yet do your bank balance no harm.

Sen's sins

Sushmita Sen Click for bigger pic!
One pub in Chembur in suburban Bombay seems to be Sushmita Sen's nemesis. The last time she landed there, she was whisked off to the cooler in an inebriated condition, protesting, 'You can't do this to me; I'm the Ms Universe' or words to that effect.

Now the buzz is that she, along with close pal Vikram Bhatt, were dancing away in a similar condition past closing hours at the pub when the cops came calling.

The sub inspector at the police station wearily realised it was just Ms Universe making her regular appearance. So this time she wasn't asked to spend the night in the bin, but allowed to go after she posed for a picture with the cops.

Since the lady claims she's a teetotaller, let her explain away the pic of her groggily swaying amidst a bunch of leering policemen. Being as bright as she is, you can be certain she'll have a plausible explanation.

The stars, they coo

Karishma Kapoor at the marriage of Abhishek's sister Shweta. Click for bigger pic!
Karisma Kapoor may or may not deny her alleged engagement to Abhishek Bachchan but there were too many witnesses when the duo were whispering sweet somethings to each other at an all adults party at a five-star Bombay hotel.

They drew attention like nails to a lodestone partly because of Karisma's bright and lurid outfit, partly because the Bachchan boy is recognisable anywhere. But the crowd being rather spirited, were in no condition to mob them.

Anyway, madam promised in one of her interviews that the truth would come out one day. Lady a prophet, wot?
