Finally, an end to Lost

The end is finally near for the survivors of Lost and for us at home as well.

After holding us captive with it's never-ending flashback and umpteenth characters, ABC's island saga will wrap up in a two-hour season finale.

Michael Emerson, who plays Ben Linus, the master-manipulator leader of the Others, was quoted as saying to the Los Angeles Times that the May 29 telecast will 'take viewers to that very moment of Jack's pained 'We have to go back!' and move beyond it.'

It will also reveal 'one of the island's greatest secrets,' the paper quoted Emerson as saying.

Lost is about a group of castaways after a flight crashes on a mysterious island. The last season ended with the shocking revelation that Jack and Kate managed to escape from the island and the equally shocking tidbit about Jack wanting to return.

'The finale is about the culmination of this idea that a group of people, who desperately wanted to get off the island, find themselves in the position of defending the island that they've been trying to leave,' executive producer Carlton Cuse was quoted as saying.

So where that does that leave us? We know that in the future Jack (Matthew Fox) and Kate (Evangeline Lilly) raise Aaron, Claire's (Emilie de Ravin) son. Hurley (Jorge Garcia) ends up in a mental hospital again; Sayid (Naveen Andrews) is employed as an assassin for Ben while Sun (Yunjin Kim) gains a child but loses her husband, Jin (Daniel Dae Kim).

The producers, however, are keeping mum.

'All we can say is that it's going to be very hard to get back to the island for those guys,' co-creator and executive producer Damon Lindelof was quoted as saying. 'But life will continue for the people, who are not with them. How are we going to tell that story? We're not going to tell that,' he concluded.
